The University of Mississippi Medical Center is seeking a full time and part time registered diagnostic sonographer in the Pediatric Echo department. Please see the position description and requirements below.
The registered diagnostic sonographer will utilize equipment to perform ultrasound diagnostic procedures, making use of sonic energy to produce visual images of organs, tissues, or blood flow inside the body for interpretation and diagnosis by a physician. Schedule patients, maintain equipment, report equipment failures, and perform quality assurance.
Meet the educational and applicable experience factor requirements for registration by the american registry of diagnostic medical sonographers (ARDMS) or cardiovascular credentialing international (CCI)
BLS required; can be obtained within the first ninety (90) days of hire. Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) registration within one (1) year of date of employment
Knowledge skills and abilities:
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology
- Knowledge of ultrasound physics and instrumentation
- Patient management skills
- Verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills
- Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications
- Ability to maintain records
- Ability to allay patient anxiety
